Poached Brisket


  •  1.5kg of beef brisket
  • 2 onions peeled and halved
  • 2 celery stalks cut into pieces
  • 2 carrots peeled and sliced
  • a few sprigs of parsley (optional)
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 can of plum tomatos (cut the tomatos in half)
  • salt to taste



  1. Put meat in a large pan and cover with boiling water
  2. brink to simmer over medium heat
  3. remove any foam from surface
  4. add all ingredients and let it cook for 3-4 hours or until the meat feels tender.

Use the broth for soup.
