Tamarind juice




  • tamarind
  • water
  • ice (optional)
  • sugar (optional)



  1. Remove the shells of the tamarinds
  2. Place the tamarinds in a large bowl and cover with water
  3. Let it soak for 2 hours until the pulp of the tamarinds in soft
  4. Use your hands (or a blender) to extract the pulp from the tamarinds, at this point you can remove the stones once they separate from the rest
  5. Use a strainer to separate the juice from the pulp/seeds
  6. discard the pulp/ seeds
  7. The juice should be a concentrated, add a water to taste to dilute it.
  8. If you want add some sugar (I usually don’t)
  9. Add ice and serve
